Teacher

Diagnosed with ABC in 2008 & 2014.

Diagnosed in 2008 with stage 2+ her2 + breast cancer and metastasis to my liver in 2014. Ongoing targeted therapy after 18 cycles chemotherapy. I have now had 80 cycles of kadcyla.

I am a high school mathematics teacher, back to work after my chemotherapy treatment. I have had tremendous support from my family, relatives, colleagues and friends, and breast cancer support groups, too.

I love outdoor activities such as hiking, dragon boating, jogging and walking. I enjoy whatever I do and always try to look at things from their positive sides. I have a strong will to fight whatever difficulties that come along my survival journey because my dream is to see my two sons gain success in their careers and be able to be independent in life. I always inspire them to live life to its fullest and appreciate every moment in life.

I am a role model to my students and colleagues and friends; despite my disease, I am able to perform my duties well and, at times, even better than others who are not sick. I just retired and am feeling so blessed because I never thought of surviving till my retirement when I was first diagnosed. So never give up hope.

Besides seeing the right oncologist (who is always concerned about the progress of treatment), self-discipline, a positive attitude and exercise are vital in our fighting journey. I strongly believe emotions play an important part.
