I'm 64, a healthy and active woman, a mother of three, a wife, a retiree. 2005 was my first run with BC, HR+ Her2-. One mastectomy, then chemotherapy, radiation and hormone therapy for almost 5 years. November 2020 was my MBC diagnosis. HR+ , Her2+. 8 cycles of Herceptin/Perjeta/Taxol ended mid-May.

Currently, I am on Herceptin/Perjeta. Main side effects: fatigue, chest area still sore, occasional tingling in my left arm/fingers. Good spirits.

I am fortunate to be retired, so now I do volunteer work. Two of my friends with MBC are RNs. Both were forced to retire. The disease and its treatments are physically challenging. I used to cook every day, for many years. Nowadays, I get tired after half an hour, pain after an hour. I can't imagine women who do not have the fortunate circumstances that I do. I think that half the time should be all that is expected of them.

There should be a physical club for people with cancer where there are variety of activities: sport (yoga or other), games (cards or others) lectures, a weekly meeting when people get to express their feelings, a nurse who'd listen and perhaps fill the gap – a place to make friends and a support network.
